The extraordinary response to our Wind in the Willows proof-of-concept film has shown us something powerful: audiences still want timeless stories brought to life with genuine artistry, craftsmanship, and heart.
Inspired by Kenneth Grahame’s beloved novel, director Ray Griggs set out to reimagine The Wind in the Willows in the tradition of classic filmmaking—with practical sets, hand-built animatronics, intricate miniatures, and a sweeping orchestral score, supported by carefully used visual effects.
Ray commissioned Wētā Workshop and other world-class artists to help create the original proof of concept. After years of presenting the project through traditional industry channels, he made the decision recently to release the short to audiences on YouTube.
The response has been overwhelming. Thousands of viewers have watched, shared, commented, and expressed their desire to see this world expanded into a full-length feature film.
Now we need to turn that enthusiasm into measurable audience demand.
By adding your name, ZIP code, and estimated ticket count, you help us demonstrate to studios, financiers, and distribution partners that a real audience is waiting for this film.
Those who choose to become Founding Willows Members also help fund the advertising and campaign materials needed to introduce the proof of concept to a much larger audience.
Our mission is simple: to prove that there is a worldwide audience ready to return to the Riverbank—and to give this film its best possible chance of reaching the big screen.

By becoming a Founding Willows Member or making a one-time contribution, you are choosing to support an independent filmmaker, the art of practical filmmaking, and the campaign to demonstrate that audiences want to see The Wind in the Willows brought to the screen as a feature film.
Your support helps fund advertising and promotion of the proof-of-concept film, audience outreach, campaign materials, website and membership operations, creative development, and other reasonable efforts intended to build measurable audience demand and move the project toward financing, production, and distribution.
This feature film is currently in development. It has not yet been fully financed, greenlit, produced, or guaranteed distribution. There is a real possibility that the financing required to make and release the feature film may never be secured. By contributing, you knowingly accept and share in that risk.
Your contribution supports the campaign work being undertaken now. It is not an investment and does not provide equity, ownership, profit participation, repayment rights, or any financial return. Contributions are not charitable donations and are not tax-deductible.
Benefits that can be fulfilled during the campaign will be provided according to the stated membership terms and reward milestones. However, benefits that depend upon the feature film entering production—including film credits, the Riverbank Wall of Founding Members, signed production screenplays, set visits, wrap-party invitations, premiere invitations, production tours, and similar experiences—can be provided only if the film is financed and produced and the applicable item, event, or opportunity actually occurs.
Film-dependent benefits also remain subject to cast and crew participation, scheduling, availability, venue capacity, production requirements, safety and insurance restrictions, guild rules, confidentiality obligations, and final approval by the producers, financiers, distributors, and other applicable parties. Travel, accommodations, transportation, meals, and personal expenses are not included unless expressly stated otherwise.
Completed contributions and membership payments are non-refundable because funds may be committed or spent on advertising, campaign operations, development, and audience-building activities as they are received, except where a refund is required by law or expressly provided under our posted Refund Policy. Canceling a monthly membership stops future charges but does not refund payments already completed.
By completing your contribution, you acknowledge that you are supporting the effort because you believe in the project, want your voice counted, and would like to help give the film its best possible chance of being made—not because production, distribution, or any film-dependent reward has been guaranteed.
The FTC advises crowdfunding organizers to clearly explain how funds will be used and to honor the promises made to supporters; it has also pursued cases involving funds used differently from what was represented..

Of all his projects, The Wind in the Willows has stayed closest to his heart.
Ray commissioned Wētā Workshop and other world-class artists to help create the original proof-of-concept film. After years of trying to move the feature forward through traditional channels, he decided to release it directly to the public.
The response reminded him why he never gave up.
A Personal Note from Ray
“I have carried this film for a long time because I believe audiences still want stories made with craftsmanship, wonder, and heart and soul.
Whether you become a Founding Willows Member, add your name for free, or simply share the film, you are helping give this story another chance.
I would be honored to have you beside me on the journey back to the Riverbank.”
